IRONMAN Start Time Moved Up Due to Heat

The IRONMAN Coeur D'Alene triathlon has been moved to an earlier time in order to reduce the threat of summer heat. The 5:30am start time was decided on after considering the potential increased numbers of athletes developing heat-related illness.

IRONMAN organizers give advice to avoid dehydration saying “The key here is to drink before, during and after outdoor activity. If athletes or spectators are already thirsty before heading outside, they are already on their way to dehydration.” Also, "Heat-related illness is preventable, so we highly encourage athletes and fans to educate themselves on how to recognize and prevent it,
